The Common Lime, also known as European Common Lime, was originally used by the Victorians for avenues, parklands and estates.
Fast growing, and forming a large crown at maturity, with its bright green leaves turn a vivid yellow just before they fall in the Autumn.
Attracting huge quantities of green fly, that in Summer, attach to the underside of the leaf and fatten up by tapping into the food source.
As a result, the Common Lime attract a wide variety of larger insects such as lady birds, that in return attract a great variety of birds.
